Karen says she is 54 years young! She came to fitness and keto later in life, but now believes it is never too late to get healthy and fit.
While suffering through a bad relationship, Karen learned to turn to food for comfort. In her attempts to make herself feel better, she would eat junk food all day long, and became very addicted to sugar and sweets. As a result, she spent almost all of her adult life being overweight, and she suffered from some of the many ailments obese people encounter, such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Her father died from a heart attack, and so se was frightened when she began experiencing an extremely fast pulse. Afraid to step on the scale, Karen records her highest known weight as 215 lbs, but believes her starting weight was higher than that.
After finally getting out of her bad relationship, Karen decided she was going to get healthy. She realized she was a sugar and carb addict, and learned about a low carb way of eating that seemed like it could hold the answer she was seeking. That way of eating was Keto.
Since she began the Ketogenic lifestyle, Karen’s medical conditions have resolved, and the high pulse that so worried her has returned to a normal, healthy rate. She also fell in love with lifting weights, and has re-shaped her body to the one she always desired. Karen firmly believes that Ketogenic living and weight training has helped her regain some of her lost youth, and she frequently feels like she is actually aging backwards!
After experiencing such a dramatic change herself, she decided she needed to start living her passions: weight training and helping others regain their health. Karen went to work and attained her NASM personal training certification. She knows what it feels like to be overweight and unhappy, and her greatest desire is to help as many people as she is able to turn that corner and change their lives for the better. Getting healthy excites her, and hopefully it excites you, too!
