Mark Canada is a 57-year-old husband and grandfather who has been living a ketogenic lifestyle since March 2016. Recently retired, he spent 32 years working as a Psychologist and Therapist in the mental health and addictions field. After achieving success with the Ketogenic lifestyle, he believes that even though he is enjoying retirement, he is not finished helping others who want to make a positive change in their lives; he just found a new focus for his passion.
At age 40, Mark received a diagnosis of both Type II Diabetes and hypertension, and he spent much of the last 17 years doing the medication shuffle while remaining basically on the Standard American Diet. Nothing he tried made any difference in his blood sugar levels, which continued to soar until his A1C hit 9.8 and his doctors began seriously considering an insulin prescription.
Mark started keto after his wife Kynda, who began her own journey 4 months earlier, convinced him that there was a way to reclaim his health and reduce or eliminate his medications. With little to lose, he agreed to change the way he was eating, and eventually the way he viewed food in general.
His transformation has been nothing short of remarkable. With an A1C reduced to 5.2, Mark has been medication free since April 2017. He also lost 40 pounds, began lifting heavy things, and cut his body fat from 35% to 22%. Mark's blood pressure is normal, and the pressure in his eyes is normal for the first time in his life.
Mark believes Keto is not just another diet, but a way to live. His personal approach is straightforward and honest, because he firmly believes this lifestyle is life-changing and life-saving if only people are willing to make the commitment to change and commit to the effort.
